Melanie Kenzie, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
Dr. Melanie Kenzie graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1998. She began her career in her hometown of London where she worked in small animal practice and in laboratory animal medicine at the University of Western Ontario. She spent 4 years working with the London House Rabbit Society – an experience that played a large part in developing her love and appreciation for rabbits.
After relocating to the Greater Toronto Area for many years, she returned to London with dreams of developing her own mobile practice. To Dr. Kenzie, mobile veterinary services are about reducing the inconvenience of traveling to a clinic for her human clients, as well as reducing the stress levels this can have on her furry patients.
Dr. Kenzie has a special interest in the medicine and surgery of rabbits (nothing makes her happier than watching a bunny eat hay!), but she also ADORES her canine and feline patients. She shares her home with her beloved Penny (a mixed-breed rescue from Kosovo), Truman (an odd little Toy Manchester Terrier), Magnum and Mr. Higgins (the cats), her husband, Ed, and her stepson, Scott.
Erin George, Veterinary Technician
Erin George is Dr. Kenzie's right-hand woman. She attended Sheridan College at the start of her career where she trained as an Animal Care Attendant, and then eventually continued her studies as a Veterinary Technician through Thompson Rivers University
Erin has been with Dr. Kenzie since the launch of her mobile clinic in May 2018, and has assisted with a wide range of tasks, including rabbit surgeries, emergency appointments, and euthanasias.
Most recently, Erin began training to become a paramedic... but quickly realized that working with animals is her true calling after all.
"It's great to be working alongside Dr. Kenzie again," says Erin. "I'm looking forward to reuniting with clients and their pets, whom I remember fondly, as well as meeting new ones."
FUN FACT: Erin has 4 furbabies of her own: Kirby the puggle, Ellah the bunny, and Mylow and Lunna the cats.
